Government committed to addressing challenges being faced by the water companies

Government says it is committed to addressing challenges being faced by the water companies.
Eastern Province Minister, Malozo Sichone says that government is aware of the many challenges being faced by various water companies, which need urgent attention.
Mr. Sichone says that encroachment of Water plants, vandalism and illegal water connections are some of the many challenges faced by water utility companies.
He says that most of these challenges are not urgently being attended to by the water company because they are being owed huge sums of money by various institutions including government.
Mr. Sichone however, says that government has partnered with various Non-governmental organisations to address the challenges.
Mr. Sichone has appealed to government institutions owing the water company to ensure that they settle their bills to assist in addressing these challenges.
The Provincial Minister was speaking during the commemoration of World Water Day in Chipata today.
This year’s World Water Day is being commemorated under the theme” International Water Cooperation”.
