Government dismisses reports that construction works at Chipata District Hospital have stalled.

The Ministry of Health has dismissed reports that construction works at Chipata District Hospital have stalled.

Provincial Medical Officer, Abel Kabalo says that the works have continued because government does not owe the contractor any money.

Dr. Kabalo told Breeze News that government has paid China Gausu Construction Company the whole 10 million Kwacha allocated to the project.

He says that the contractor is carrying out final works of painting adding that all the works are expected to be completed by next month.

And Dr. Kabalo explained that government does not owe any money to the contractors working on Vubwi and Nyimba district hospitals.

He says that the contractor working on Nyimba District Hospital is now carrying out paving works outside the hospital adding that this will be completed soon.
