Government has embarked on the construction of an earth dam in Katete district to address the erratic water supply.
Local Government and Housing minister Emerine Kabanshi says works on the 35, 000 Kwacha project, will start in October this year.
The minster says that once the dam is completed it will improve the erratic water supply in the district. Katete currently depends on two boreholes to supply water.
Ms. Kabanshi says that the dam which will be 180 meters long, 5 meters wide and 13 meters in height, will have components like a reservoir, filter and a pump house.
And the Minister says that over 500,000 Kwacha will soon be given to the local authority to put up flushable toilets, ablution blocks and water points at Katete main market.
Ms Kabanshi, who was not pleased when she learnt that the market was operating without toilets and water point said the situation, was unhealthy to the general public.
