Government identifies loopholes in security system used to deal with illegal maize exports.

Government has identified loopholes in the security system being used to deal with people smuggling maize to neighbouring countries.

Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo has confirmed this to Breeze News.

Mr. Kasolo says that this follows a trip, which was conducted by the Presidential Task Force assigned to look into the problem of illegal exports of maize.

Mr. Kasolo, who was part of the task force which visited Southern Province on a fact finding mission last week, says that these security loopholes need to be sealed.

He declined to reveal some of the security loopholes stating that he was writing a report that will ensure that government attends to the issue.

And Mr. Kasolo says that government is so far satisfied with how ZNS, Zambia National Service officers are manning borders.

He says that the officers have continued to impound trucks adding that this will not stop until the illegal trade is reduced.
