Government in huge NRC exercise debt

Government still owes people who worked during the third phase of the mobile National Registration exercise huge sums of money.

Home Affairs Permanent Secretary, Chileshe Mulenga confirmed to Breeze News that government has been faced with challenges to pay the workers engaged in the exercise which ended in January this year.

He was responding to complaints from the affected people that government has not paid them their money for two months.

Each of those who participated in the exercise is owed about 30 thousand kwacha as government only paid them 15 thousand Kwacha for one month.

Dr. Mulenga however, could not disclose how much government owes all the workers who participated in the exercise.

He assured the affected people that government is doing everything possible to ensure that they are all paid their owed amounts.

Dr. Mulenga explained that people who worked in the first and second phase of the exercise last year were all paid their monies.
