Government has invited a Ghanaian waste management company to explore ways of managing waste in four big towns in Zambia.
Local Government Minister, John Phiri says that the four towns include Chipata.
Speaking when he addressed councillors and council management, Dr. Phiri says that Zoom Lion showed interest to visit Zambia when he attended an Afrique meeting in Ghana recently.
Meanwhile Dr Phiri revealed that the Local Government Service Commission is expected to handle vacancy issues in a number of local authorities in the country.
He says most of the councils across the country had some vacuum which the local government service commission needs to fill up.
And the minister has also implored council workers to embrace the decentralisation process which will take place soon.
He says currently, most of the jobs and contracts are given in Lusaka but that when decentralisation is implemented, all the needed requirements will be done locally.
And acting director of local government administration, Margaret Chanda Kapata says that she had noted vacant positions at Chipata Municipal Council and she will report to the local government service commission.
