Government is sending auditors to local authorities with questionable books of accounts.
Local Government and Housing Deputy Minister, Forrie Tembo says the auditors are expected to audit the councils and compile reports for onwards action.
He says it is unfortunate that double receipting had become an issue in some local authorities.
Mr. Tembo says that councils to be audited include Chipata Municipal Council and Lusaka City Council.
He says that he is also aware that some councillors in local authorities were having more than one plot, stating that this is wrong because a councillor is only entitled to one plot.
Meanwhile, Mr Tembo says that government had not been officially informed about the resignation of Ekan Chingangu as Chipata Town Clerk.
He says that the Government had been learning the resignation and the arrest of Mr. Chingangu by ACC, Anti-Corruption Commission in the press.
