Government not yet decided on load defaulting youths under YDF

The Provincial Administration in Eastern Province has written to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Child Development to identify youths that are failing to pay back loans under YDF, the Youth Development Fund so that legal action can be taken on them.
Eastern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Patrick Mwanawasa says that a huge number of youths who accessed government loans from 2012 have not started paying back.
He says that the behaviour of youths is uncalled for and may result in government abolishing the loans because it is wasting resources.
Mr. Mwanawasa says that out of 64 beneficiaries from Chipata district, only ten are paying back the loans in bits.
The DPS says the Provincial Administration is still waiting for response to go ahead with legal action on the erring youths.
He however, says that government has secured 800,000 Kwacha to benefit about forty youths in the next phase in Eastern Province.
