Government has ordered a feasibility study into possibilities of building a dam along Phululu stream in Chipangali Constituency.
This is according to a letter dated June 23rd, from Acting Permanent Secretary, Royd Tembo addressed to the Department of Water Affairs.
Mr. Tembo has further advised the Department of Water Affairs to consider putting the project in the 2017 to 2019 MTEF budget.
Mulangeni Dam Project Chairperson, James Nyirenda who was availed the letter, confirmed the development to Breeze News.
Mr. Nyirenda says that Phululu Stream, which is situated in Chief Chanje’s area, is ideal for constructing a dam.
He explained that constructing a dam in the area will assist to address the water problem affecting people in the chiefdom.
Mr. Nyirenda says that he is excited that government has shown willingness to assist build a dam for people who struggle to access water every dry season.
