Government praises Catholic Church

Government has praised the Catholic Church for embarking on activities aimed at assisting women in Eastern Province.

Eastern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Patrick Mwanawasa says the Catholic Church have always embarked on organizing women with various developmental activities through sisters of Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI).

Mr Mwanawasa says this demonstrates how much the church cares about the Humanity of the country.

He was speaking in Chipata this morning during the commemoration of DMI International Women’s Day Celebration under the theme be bold for change.

Mr. Mwanawasa says government has always indicated its need to work in partnership with the church through activities such as the ones being carried out by DMI women in Eastern Province.

He says the impact that the Catholic Church through DMI women are creating on the ground gives great encouragement and Hope to the people in the province in particular women.

The DPS urged women to inculcate a culture of serving money through their various clubs that are being assisted by DMI sisters so that they develop their businesses.

The DMI International Women’s Day was being celebrated under the Theme” Be Bold for Change”
