Government has warned that it will not tolerate police officers involved in criminal activities.
Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu says that it is unfortunate that some police officers are involved in a number of criminal activities in the country.
Mr. Lungu was speaking in Katete in reaction to the recent aggravated robbery which took place in Chipata by a named police officer who is currently on the run.
The Minister says the police service has no room for bag eggs adding that the Government will remove all police officers found wanting.
Mr. Lungu says that he was saddened with the recent report that a police officer in the Criminal Investigation Department CID committed a broad daylight crime of snatching 195, 000 Kwacha from a cashier of Zambian Breweries PLC.
The minister has asked police officers in Eastern Province to assist in arresting the police officer so that he can face the law.
