Government reduces funding to the Rural Electrification Authority.

The Rural Electrification Authority, REA, says government has reduced funding to the authority.
This is expected to result into changes of certain things during electrification projects.
REA Engineer, Margret Banda, says customers should be aware that REA, is at the moment facing financial challenges due to reduced funding by government.
Ms. Banda says that REA will stop providing financial support to facilitate connection of power to other clients after the first connection has been made in a named area.
And Ms. Banda revealed that REA has this year connected power to six palaces in Chipata, Katete and Petauke districts.
And the provincial Engineer says several projects will continue next year, which includes connecting power to Saint Margret Girls Secondary School in Chipata.
