Provincial minister, Malozo Sichone has dismissed concerns that the new salaries for civil servants are too high for government to sustain.
Speaking to Breeze News this morning, Mr. Sichone says that government is using money saved from the removal of fuel subsidies to meet the new salaries.
Mr. Sichone further indicated that government will also use the money saved from fuel subsidies to venture into other developmental programmes.
He says that civil servants in Zambia have been the lowest paid workers in Southern Africa and that government wants to change this by putting more money in their pockets.
Mr. Sichone indicated that civil servants getting about one thousand nine hundred Kwacha would now get about 3,500 Kwacha while those getting 2,500 Kwacha would be getting about 5,000 Kwacha.
Government says it will sustain salaries for civil servants despite being high.
