Government has uncovered a scam where two cooperatives who received fertilizer under FISP, the Farmer Input Support Programme in Katete district have diverted the inputs.
Katete District Agriculture Coordinator, Robby Musendo has told Breeze News that some farmers, who paid for the inputs at the two cooperatives, have complained of not being given.
Mr. Musendo says that the leaders of the two cooperatives are now being investigated for alleged abuse of the undisclosed number of bags of Urea and D – Compound meant for small scale farmers.
Mr. Musendo further says that the matter has been reported to the police for investigation.
Meanwhile Mr. Musendo says that the distribution of inputs for Sinda and Katete districts has been completed.
Mr. Musendo, who is also in charge of Sinda district says 15, 104 farmers received their inputs in Sinda while 24, 740 farmers received their fertilizer in Katete.
