Government urged to ensure that the civil service remains professional.

Private Sectors Association Chairperson Governance Activist and Economist, Yusuf Dodia, has called for professionalism in the civil service.

Speaking to Breeze FM in Chipata this morning, Mr. Dodia says there is need for the new dawn government to actualize several pronouncements it committed itself to fulfill in restoring professionalism in the civil service.

He says the country is coming from a situation where political cadres have been infiltrating government machinery at permanent secretary to the lower organs of the civil service.

He says while the 100 days that most people are referring to is not enough to rate the performance of the government in various areas, there is need for people entrusted with responsibility of handling the affairs of government such as permanent secretaries, District Commissioners and directors among others, to discharge their duties in a professional manner.
