President Michael Sata will this Saturday officiate at the ground- breaking ceremony marking the commencement of the construction of the 91 kilometres Luangwa Bridge – Feira Road project.
This is contained in a press statement availed to Breeze News by the Presidents Special Assistance for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah.
Mr. Chellah says that this part of the project includes the portion of road between Luangwa Bridge and Luangwa Boma, which is anticipated to be implemented within a period of 24 months.
He says the project starts from Great East Road at Luangwa Bridge and ends at Luangwa Boma covering an approximate distance of 91 kilometres.
The District road coded D145 is a strategic route linking Luangwa Boma from the Great East Road.
Mr. Chellah adds that once completed, the road will provide a shorter route to Zimbabwe and Mozambique and promote economic activities.
Mr. Chellah says the link Zambia Project will also create jobs for local people and small Zambian contractors, who will be engaged as sub-contractors by the main contractors.
