Chadiza district has been hit with critical shortage of CD4 Count Reagents, paralyzing CD4 Count services for HIV/AIDS clients.
Chadiza District Medical Officer, Swali Fundafunda, who confirmed the development, has appealed to cooperating partners to help the district because the situation is critical.
Dr. Fundafunda says at the moment clients were being referred to Chipata General Hospital, Mwami and Saint Frances Mission Hospital in Katete to conduct their CD4 Count.
Meanwhile the Chadiza District Health Team has intensified sensitization campaigns on the prevention of waterborne diseases like cholera in the area.
Dr. Fundafunda says the ministry is trying to ensure that the district does not experience any serious cases of cholera.
He warned the community that with the onset of the rains, there is fear that there may be outbreak of waterborne diseases.
The district medical officer says that there is need for community sensitization on the need to maintain high standards of hygiene in their homes.
Health facilities in Chadiza district have run out of CD4 Count Reagents.
