Health facilities told to operate during weekends

The Ministry of Health in Eastern Province has been urged to ensure that all health facilities operate during weekends.

Health Minister, Chitalu Chilufya says it is sad to note that most people who visit health facilities during weekends do not fully receive the required medical services.

Dr. Chilufya says sickness is something that nobody can predict as it can happen anytime, adding that health workers should be available any time to attend to patients.

Dr. Chilufya was speaking when he addressed graduating nurses yesterday at St. Francis Mission Hospital in Katete district.

He urged the nurses to have a spirit of hard work and friendliness to patients.

Meanwhile, the construction of an eye clinic at Chipata Central Hospital will lessen long distances people in Chipata used to cover to go to Mwami Adventist Hospital.

Speaking when Dr. Chilufya toured the facility, Provincial Infrastructure Officer, Lawrence Kunda said construction of the eye clinic will be completed in February next year.
