Health Minister, Joseph Kasonde commissions Katambo Health post in Chipata district.

Health Minister, Joseph Kasonde has commissioned the over 93 thousand United States dollars Katambo Health post in Luangeni Constituency of Chipata district.
Katambo is among three other health posts in Eastern Province that have started operating today from the 57 earmarked for construction.
Speaking during the occasion at Katambo this morning, Dr. Kasonde says 26 structures out of 57 health posts being constructed in the province have been erected.
Dr. Kasonde says that the over 6 million United States dollars project for 57 health posts in the province will be completed before the end of this year.
The health posts are out of 650 that government is constructing countrywide.
He says the health posts which are fully equipped will be of good help to the community that used to walk long distances to access health care services.
And Dr. Kasonde says Chipata General Hospital is among hospitals that will soon be changed to a Central hospital.
He says plans are underway to turn some district hospitals into general hospitals in order to provide quality health care services to the people.
Dr. Kasonde thanked Paramount Chief Mpezeni and other chiefs for providing land for the construction of the health posts.
