United Party for National Development UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has appealed to electorates in Mambwe to vote for Peter Phiri in the June 30th Malambo parliamentary by-election.
Mr Hichilema who is in Mambwe District to drum up support for Mr. Phiri says voting for the UPND candidate is the right decision because PF has failed Zambians.
Addressing a series of meetings yesterday, Mr Hichilema says it is disheartening to see children being sent back from school because parents cannot afford to pay school fees.
He says even the source of income for most rural households such as agriculture is completely neglected as farmers are being swindled by briefcase business people when selling their produce.
He says there is urgent need for government to move in and announce the 2015 floor price for maize so that farmers can make a better decision on where to sell their produce.
Other candidates, participating in the Malambo parliamentary by-election are Jack Shuma for PF, Jailos Mchenga for UNIP and Florence Mwayopa, who is an independent candidate.
Meanwhile former MMD Lundazi District Chairperson, Frackson Banda has described the creation of a by- election in Lundazi Constituency’s Nthithimila ward by Mackson Bili as a betrayal to people of Nthitimila ward.
Mr. Banda told Breeze News that Mr. Bili’s resignation at the last hour is a clear indication that he is trying to fulfil his selfish ambition.
But when contacted for a comment, Mr. Bili denied all allegations levelled against him saying he has resigned from the former ruling party to join PF because of its good policies adding that those opposing his decision just want to bring PF down.
