Eastern Province Minister Malozo Sichone has bemoaned the high cases of teenage pregnancies and defilements in the province.
Mr. Sichone says that it is worrying that the number of girls falling pregnant and being defiled is increasing in the region.
The Minister said this when Gender and Child Development Deputy Minister Colonel Joseph Lungu paid a courtesy call on him at his office.
Mr. Sichone says that according to records, Eastern Province is leading with the highest cases of defilements in the country.
And the minister has called on traditional leaders to assist in fighting GBV, Gender Based Violence.
And Col Lungu says all chiefs in Eastern Province were directly involved in the fight against GBV.
He explained that there is urgent need to sensitize people about GBV cases if they are to reduce in the country.
Col Lungu who is on a familiarization tour of the province says he would visit women clubs.
