Illegal land developers pounce on Chizongwe Secondary School land

Authorities at Chizongwe Technical School in Chipata have complained of encroachment by people, who are building on school land.

Chizongwe Technical School deputy head teacher, Aston Mwanza, told Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo that the problem has continued despite reporting the matter to the council and other authorities.
He said this when the school football team presented the 2015 National Inter-schools Coca-Cola Cup trophy to provincial administration yesterday.
He expressed concern that if not stopped, the school will face serious problems in future, as some of those encroaching on the school land have already put up infrastructure.
Mr. Mwanza also complained of the poor state of the road leading to the school.
He explained that the road needs urgent attention and that a bridge on the road has now turned into a death trap, as it is almost collapsing.
Mr. Mwanza further asked for assistance in rehabilitating infrastructure at the school, which he described as old.
And Provincial Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo, said that he will soon visit the school to see how provincial administration can help the school.
He also took note of the complaint on the poor state of the road leading to the school and said something will be done.
