Illegal street vendors operating along Umodzi Highway in Chipata have agreed to relocate by Friday this week.
This was after Chipata Central Member of Parliament Ruben Mtolo Phiri visited the traders yesterday and reasoned with them to relocate.
Mr. Phiri explained that the traders need to move because Mota Engil was expected to start working on Umodzi Highway on Sunday.
He explained that the contractor would not carry out the works if the illegal street vendors continued to operate from Umodzi Highway because he would be inconvenienced.
And Mr. Phiri says that he has spoken to Chipata Municipal Council not to use force in removing the vendors since they had agreed to relocate.
