Importation of power from Mozambique by ZESCO has assisted to improve electricity supply to Eastern Province.
ZESCO Regional Manager, Joseph Chilongo says that if the power company was not importing electricity, the situation would have been worse than it is.
He was reacting to concerns from customers that the importation of power has not brought any change as long hours of load shedding have continued.
Speaking to Breeze News this morning, Mr. Chilongo also says that the power company is currently in the process of energising power supply to Eastern Province and that works have to be completed by Wednesday this week.
Mr. Chilongo explained that the company is this weekend working on connecting the old 66 KV power line to the new 66 KV power line.
Meanwhile Mr. Chilongo says that ZESCO has started making house power connections in Vubwi district.
He says that this follows the successful connections of electricity to health, council and police departments in the rural district.
