Insufficient water in Lundazi Dam to affect supply to residents.

Eastern Water and Sewerage Company will start rationing water supply to Lundazi residents by September this year.

Company Managing Director Lytone Kanowa says that this is because Lundazi dam does not have enough water to last up to the next rain season.

He further says that the increase in population in Lundazi was another contributing factor because the customer base has increased.

Speaking to Breeze News, Mr Kanowa stated that the supply hours will be reduced from 24 to 10 in a day.

And Mr Kanowa says that water plants in Chipata have enough water to supply residents up to the next rain season.

He however, says that issues of power load shedding will provide a challenge to the company to keep constant supply of 24 hours in a day.

Mr Kanowa stated that the company expects to maintain a water supply system of 10 hours for Nyimba, 5 hours for Katete and less than 10 hours for Chadiza district.
