Works on the 15 million Kwacha water project by Africa Brothers Company in Mwami, Mchinji and Chanida borders have reached 25 percent after one month of its commencement.
Eastern Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director Lyton Kanowa told Breeze News that Africa Brothers have done site identification where boreholes and ablution blocks will be constructed.
Mr. Kanowa says Eastern Water and Sewerage Company is happy with the quality of work done so far by Africa Brothers.
He says the progression on the works for the first one month is encouraging adding that Africa Brothers Company are moving at acceptable rate and hope the project will be completed on schedule.
Meanwhile Mr. Kanowa told Breeze News that fencing of Katete dam will not be done as earlier indicated.
Mr. Kanowa says that what the utility company will do, is to plant trees around the dam and erect bill boards to stop people from entering the dam parameters.
He says Eastern Water and Sewerage Company will also engage guards who will be guarding the dam 24 hours on daily basis.
Mr. Kanowa says the 13 meter deep dam and the presence of the three crocodiles is a danger to humans and it is for this reason that the people will be prevented from playing near the dam.
He says people will only visit the dam with permission from the company adding that if anyone will be found loitering near the dam, he or she will be prosecuted for trespassing.
