Lightning kills a 35 years old man in Chipata

A 35 year old man of Namboard area in Chipata has died after being struck by lightning yesterday.
Eastern Province Police Senior Staff Officer, Sylvester Kabaso confirmed to Breeze News that Nathan Moyo met his fate around 16 hours when lightning struck him from an uncompleted building where he was seeking shelter from the rains.
Mr. Kabaso says Moyo sustained severe burns on his back and bleeding in the mouth and nose.
And a 15 year old boy was yesterday electrocuted in Mçhini area of Chipata district.
Mr. Kabaso says Michael Ponda sustained burns on the hands, adding that the house where he was electrocuted from had illegal power connections with naked electric wires.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kabaso says 13 year old Friday Banda yesterday drowned in Chidiba Stream when he attempted to swim with his friends in Chief Kawaza’s area in Sinda district.
And a 54 year old man of Chief Pembamoyo’s area in Vubwi district was murdered over the weekend while he was on his way from Kamwendo area in Malawi where he went to sale maize.
He says Divesio Mvula, who was riding a motorbike sustained a deep cut on the head, chick and hands.
Mr Mvula did not return home on Saturday and was discovered dead along Chikoka-Vubwi road yesterday by people using the road.
He says Police discovered a knife and some blue tropicos at the scene while his motor bike has not yet been recovered. Police have picked up a suspect to help with investigations.
