Local contractors rehabilitating dip tanks in Eastern Province have been castigated for delaying the project which begun early this year.
Speaking to Breeze News, Provincial Veterinary Officer, Arthur Mumbolomena revealed that the contractors were slow to mobilise and begin the actual rehabilitation works, which has led to the project facing delays.
Dr. Mumbolomena, however, says that the works are at 70 per cent and should be completed in the next two months.
He said this in reaction to concerns from some farmers about the time it has taken for the dip tanks to be rehabilitated.
The farmers complained that due to the lack of enough dip tanks, the process of dipping the animals takes too long.
They have appealed for the Veterinary department to expedite the process.
