Long distance bus operators increase fares by 20 Kwacha

Some long distance bus operators have increased fares by 20 Kwacha.
A check by Breeze News at Kapata Bus Station found that bus operators operating on the Chipata-Lusaka route are charging 170 Kwacha from 150 Kwacha.
The bus operators indicated that the adjustment in the fares followed the increase in fuel pump prices two weeks ago.

However, some bus operators are still using the same fare of 150 Kwacha on the Chipata-Lusaka route, indicating that they have not yet received instructions from their head offices in Lusaka to increase the fares.
Meanwhile Private and Public Drivers Association of Zambia PPDAZ has called for a hike in bus fares for operators in Eastern Province.
PPDAZ Chairperson, Joseph Phiri told Breeze News that the association has written to RTSA, Road Transport and Safety Agency asking for an increment in bus fares.
He says as soon as RTSA approves the request, the bus fares will be increased on all routes.
