Long weekend claims two lives in Eastern Province

 

Two people died in separate accidents in Eastern Province over the long weekend.

Eastern Division Criminal Investigative Officer, Christopher Kanema confirmed the accidents that happened in Chipata and Petauke respectively.

Mr. Kanema says the first accident happened on Good Friday along Lundazi road involving a cyclist.

He explained that the accident happened when Silvestre Nkhoma aged 30 was descending from a hill while cycling along Chipata-Lundazi road and in the process lost control and hit his head on the tarmac.

Mr. Kanema says Nkhoma who sustained multiple head injuries and internal body injuries died on the spot.

And Mr. Kanema says the other accident happened on Easter Sunday along Sandwe road in Petauke district.

He says that the accident involved a Toyota Dyna that was driven by Harrison Sakala and was carrying five passengers.

He says that Sakala failed to negotiate a corner
