Chipata residents should brace themselves for erratic water supply due to low water levels at Lutembwe Dam One and Two.
This has forced Eastern Water and Sewerage Company to start rationing water supply to its customers in the district.
During a tour of the two dams yesterday, Chipata District Eastern Water and Sewerage Company Manager, December Banda said the utility company is left with no option but to ration the commodity.
Mr Banda says the company is doing everything possible to supply water to its customers, adding that because of the low water levels, the company is supplying water to its consumers at different times.
And the move by the water company to ration the supply of water to its customers has seriously affected some areas.
Residents are now resorting to accessing water in shallow wells and walking long distances in search for the commodity.
Most affected areas include Magwero, Little Bombay, Old Jim, Katopola, Chimwemwe and East Rise.
