The local authority in Lundazi District had a tough time when they attempted to remove street vendors operating near Kobil Filling Station this morning.
The vendors who have vowed not to leave the area stated that they cannot move out because there is no enough trading space in the market.
Beatrice Bilima, Hellen Nyirenda and Jane Zgambo all of Dunda Compound stated that it was not in order for the local authority to chase them from the street before allocating them an alternative place.
The trio also indicated that trading from the street was the only way they could manage to feed their families and sponsor their children to school.
The female vendors further stated that their husbands were not in stable employment while others were drunkards who are failing to meet the needs of their families.
The trio also explained that they were sensitive to the fact that they trade near a filling station and would not do anything like cook meals because it would result in a serious accident.
But efforts made to get a comment from the district commissioner, market authorities and the council failed by news time.
