Lundazi District Council abandons plans to repossess a disputed land from a named cotton company.

Lundazi District Council has abandoned plans to use the official process of repossessing a disputed land from a named cotton company.
This follows pressure from residents who are interested in developing the land, which is situated behind FRA, Food Reserve Agency sheds.
Council Secretary, Magubwi Simunkolomba had a tough time explaining to the affected people to wait until the official process of repossessing the land was concluded.
Mr. Simunkolomba explained that the council had already started the process of repossessing the land through the Commissioner of Land because the company had failed to develop the land within 18 months.
He however, stated that due to the resistance from plot applicants, the local authority had now decided to go by the council resolution to allocate the land to the 70 people that applied for plots.
Meanwhile the residents also demanded to know what criteria the council was using to award plots at the Prison Farm as the local authority did not advertise.
But Mr. Simunkolomba expressed ignorance on the development taking place at Prison Farm but indicated that he would investigate the matter.
