Lundazi District Farmers Association Management accused of swindling small scale farmers

Lundazi District Farmers Association Management LDFA has been accused of allegedly swindling small scale farmers over 80,000 Kwacha on the pretext that they would supply farmers with inputs under Lima Credit Scheme Programme for 2015-2016 farming season.
The irate farmers, who visited LDFA offices demanded for a refund since the association had failed to supply them with inputs.

And one of the farmers, Thomas Banda of Eneya village in Lukwizizi area of Chief Mphamba revealed that he paid the association 4,500 Kwacha and was supposed to collect 16 by 50 kilogramme bags of fertiliser and a 50kg bag of maize seed.
Mr. Banda complained that the action by LDFA will negatively affect his farming activity as he was unable to access farming inputs from anywhere else.
And Donald Kamanga of Nthanda Village in Chief Mwase Nthembwe’s area who paid 7,500 Kwacha for 40 bags of fertiliser said the association has continued making unfulfilled promises over the matter since September last year.
Mr. Kamanga revealed that management promised to settle the issue after selling their houses.
But Lundazi District Farmers Association Board Chairman White Banda says he was not aware that management was receiving money for Lima Credit Scheme Programme.
Mr. Banda, who expressed disappointment, stated that management was never instructed to start collecting money for the program since they had unsettled issues of loan recovery.
