Villagers in Chief Jumbe’s area of Mambwe district have asked that boreholes drilled in the area must be very deep.
Jonas Mwanza says this will help in ensuring that the boreholes do not dry up quickly.
He noted that most boreholes in Mphomwa, Kadimbike and Yokonia areas are now dry.
He says this is because the water table has gone down due to reduced rainfall activities.
Mr. Mwanza says that this has resulted in most villages and farm blocks facing a serious challenge in accessing safe clean drinking water.
He says that the situation is more critical for livestock farmers, as the area does not have a dam.
