Management and staff at Radio Chikaya in Lundazi pass a vote of no confidence in their board.

Management and Staff of Chikaya Community Radio Station in Lundazi district have passed a Vote of No Confidence in the Board of Directors.

In a statement availed to Breeze News by Radio Chikaya FM staff, the board of directors has continued to operate beyond its term of office, which ended on October 29 last year.

The statement explains that the board has failed to organize an Annual General Meeting AGM, where a new board should have been chosen.

The board is also being accused of failing to source funds for the radio station.

The workers allege that despite the constitution stating that the board must have seven members, board chairperson Golden Mtonga and his finance counterpart Constantine Siwakwi have continued to run the affairs of the radio station on their own, which is against the policy guidelines.

The statement also says that the board turns down the staff efforts to renew licenses and membership affiliation to media bodies such as MIBS, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services, ZICTA, theZambia Information and Communication Technology Authority, ZAMCOPS, MISA Zambia, and the registrar of societies.

The workers have called on Misa Zambia to intervene in the matter before the situation gets out of hand.
