Market chairpersons in Chipata are now asking government to link them direct to President Edgar Lungu so that the issue of loans under the Presidential Initiative is resolved.
Speaking on behalf of others, Kapata Market Chairperson, Richard Lunda, told Breeze News that this is because they have not been given information on when the traders and vendors will be given their soft loans.
Mr. Lunda says that they have engaged Provincial Minister, Malozo Sichone, and Provincial Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo asking for a direct contact to State House so that they are told the truth on when traders and vendors will start accessing the loans.
He says Eastern Province has no representative from the people spearheading the release of the loans as most of them are from the Copperbelt.
Mr. Lunda says the situation has made it difficult for them to explain to the traders and vendors who registered for the loans.
Mr. Lunda complained over pressure from traders and vendors who spent more than 20 Kwacha to register for the loans.
