The demand by Members of Parliament to have their allowances increased has been described as an act of selfishness.
Civil Society for Poverty Reduction CSPR, Provincial Coordinator, Maxson Nkhoma has also described the demands as unjustifiable.
In an interview with Breeze News, Mr. Nkhoma wondered how MPs who failed to lobby government to lift the wage and employment freeze could demand for higher allowances.
Mr. Nkhoma has charged that the demands by the MPs are ill timed and questionable adding that they lack morality and exposes serious levels of personal gain at the expense of national development.
He says that it will be wrong for MPs to increase their salaries when those of the people they claim to represent have remained stagnant due to the implementation of the wage freeze despite the cost of living being increasingly high.
