The director from the Department of Public Infrastructure has written to the Ministry of Higher Education asking them to release funds to pay the contractor engaged to construct hostels at Chipata Trades Training Institute.
Speaking to Breeze News Clerk of Works Marko Mtonga says only eleven million Kwacha out of twenty-three million has been paid to ZAMINLINY Investment Limited.
Mr. Mtonga says works will only resume when the payment is made.
The 23 million Kwacha project of constructing a 64 roomed student’s hostel at Chipata Trades Training Institute has stalled for more than six months.
The project that started in December, 2013 was supposed to be completed in January this year but is still at 52 per cent completion.
Once completed, the hostel will have a capacity of 248 bed space for the students.
