Ministry of Health told to make recruitment of nurses easy

Government has directed the Eastern Provincial Health Office to stop any unnecessary bureaucracies in the recruitment of nurses.

Health Minister, Chitalu Chilufya says the recruitment of health workers should be conducted in a proper manner following the right procedure.

He says the recruitment of nurses should be concluded by Friday this week and the exercise should include newly graduates.

Dr. Chilufya was speaking yesterday during a combined graduation ceremony for nurses and midwives at St. Francis Mission Hospital in Katete.

Dr. Chilufya says government attaches keen interest in the welfare of health workers in Zambia.

He says government is spending 4.3 million kwacha in attending to health infrastructure development including construction of theatres countrywide.

Dr. Chilufya added that St Francis Mission Hospital will now conduct internships and will receive ten intern doctors in the next two weeks.

He urged the newly graduated nurses and midwives to observe their ethics and conduct their work in a professional manner.

Meanwhile Dr. Chilufya toured projects, which included the construction of Namuseche zonal health center which will be opened in December this year and the construction of an eye clinic at a total cost of 3.4 million Kwacha at Chipata Central Hospital.
