MMD adopts candidates for Petauke Central and Malambo parliamentary by-elections.

After several delays, the opposition MMD, Movement for Multiparty Democracy has finally announced its candidates for Petauke Central and Malambo parliamentary by-elections.
In Petauke Central, the party will defend the seat through acting provincial chairperson, Jacob Mwanza.
Mambwe district chairperson, Zaphenia Kaleya has been picked to stand in Malambo constituency.
Eastern Province MMD provincial secretary, Julius Phiri has confirmed this to Breeze News.
Mr. Phiri says that Mr. Mwanza is an ideal candidate for Petauke Central, because he worked in the district as district commissioner and is therefore well known by the people and understands the challenges the district faces.
He also explained that the party settled for Mr. Kaleya in Malambo Constituency because he is a resident of the district.
And Mr. Phiri says that the party is confident of retaining the two seats.
He reiterated that the party has enough money to sponsor the candidates.
Mr. Phiri explained that people, who are spreading information that MMD is broke are not members and have just been sponsored to destroy the image of the party.
Meanwhile Chipangali Member of Parliament, Vincent Mwale has been appointed deputy campaign manager for PF candidate, Jack Shuma in the Malambo parliamentary by-election.
PF Provincial Chairperson, Attany Mwamba says that deputy minister of Gender Dorothy Kazunga has been appointed campaign manager and will work with Mr. Mwale.
And when contacted, Mr. Mwale, who is also Youth and Sports minister, confirmed that he has been appointed deputy campaign manager by President, Edgar Lungu.
And Mr. Mwamba says that Susan Kawandami is the campaign manager for Dora Siliya in the Petauke Central parliamentary by-election.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has set June 30 as date for the Petauke Central, Malambo and Mulobezi parliamentary by election.
Candidates participating in the polls are expected to file in their nomination papers tomorrow.
