MMD and PF alliance explained

The MMD says that its alliance with PF is focused on the presidency and not parliamentary or local government candidates.

Provincial Secretary, Julius Phiri has told Breeze News that this means that voters should vote for the best parliamentary and local government candidates in the August 11 general elections.

Mr. Phiri however, says that MMD and PF candidates are expected to campaign for President Edgar Lungu so that the presidential race does not go into a re-run.

He says that the MMD has been forced to clarify the matter because there seems to be a misunderstanding about the focus of the alliance.

Meanwhile Rainbow Party leader Wynter Kabimba and his running mate Cosmas Musumali successfully filed in their nomination papers for the August 11, general elections yesterday.

And Mr. Kabimba told the media that he is confident that he will win the 2016 general elections.

And United Progressive Party leader Saviour Chishimba and his running mate Sinanzeni Chuma also filed in their nomination papers.

After presenting their documents to the returning officer, the duo addressed their supporters who had gathered at the Mulungushi conference center grounds to re-assure them of victory in the August polls.
