The Movement for Multi-Party Democracy MMD has maintained that it will not suspend its alliance with PF, Patriotic Front Party despite facing challenges.
MMD National Chairman for Agriculture, Chishala Chilufya further says that the MMD will emerge strong after the August 11 general elections.
Speaking during a live radio programme dubbed Political Hour this morning, Mr. Chilufya says that the confusion that has ensued among PF and MMD candidates is normal in an election campaign.
He says that the candidates should find best ways of campaigning to outsmart each other since the alliance between the two parties is focused on the presidency.
And Mr. Chilufya has maintained his campaign of Unity of Purpose for President Edgar Lungu by people in Eastern Province saying that it is not in any way associated with tribalism.
He says that the Unity of Purpose is being spearheaded on the basis of ensuring that President Lungu returns the presidency because he has proved to be a good and focused leader.
Mr. Chilufya also emphasised the need for people in Eastern Province to ensure that they vote in the August 11 general elections.
He however, regretted the voting pattern witnessed in the 2015 presidential election where President Lungu would obtain zero votes at a polling station in Southern Province while UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema would get more than 10 votes at polling stations in Eastern Province, saying only people can best judge this kind of voting.
