MMD denies losing popularity in Eastern Province.

Movement for Multi-Party Democracy youths in Eastern Province have dismissed a statement that easterners do not support MMD.
MMD Provincial Youth Chairperson, Chembe Daka says that the statement issued by former MMD National Secretary, Major Richard Kachingwe is misleading.
Major Kachingwe is quoted as having said that MMD President, Dr. Nevers Mumba should not waste his time to ride on former president Rupiah Banda’s name in Eastern Province because easterners cannot be trusted as they change easily.
The former MMD National Secretary alleged that during the 2011 general elections, Mr. Banda just managed to get a few votes from Eastern Province.
But Mr. Daka says that Major Kachingwe’s statement is meant to mislead people because MMD in the region has always received support from easterners.
Mr. Daka has appealed to Major Kachingwe not to involve easterners in his personal differences with the MMD President.
