The Movement for Multi-Party Democracy MMD, in Eastern Province has pledged its support for President Edgar Lungu’s directive for the country to hold a day of prayer and fasting on October 18.
Speaking to Breeze News, Provincial Chairperson, Jacob Mwanza, says that the call is timely and urged the church to consider taking up the mantle to continue with such programmes throughout the year.
He observed that the call for prayers was timely as Zambians have lost hope in light of the economic crisis being faced in the country.
Mr. Mwanza however, warned that if the President Lungu led administration is not sincere in the calls for prayer, they will suffer the consequences.
He has urged all party members at all structures to participate in the prayers and fasting.
The MMD Provincial Chairperson has called on the Provincial Administration not to leave out the opposition political parties in any of the programs scheduled for the event.
