Mobilization works of upgrading 14.1 kilometre Township roads into bituminous standard in Nyimba district have started.
Nyimba District Commissioner, George Phiri told Breeze News that Sable Construction Company has already moved to the site.
Mr. Phiri says that what is remaining is for the contractor to sign a contract with RDA, the Road Development Agency, so that actual works start next month.
Mr. Phiri says that the contract period for the township roads is one year.
And Mr. Phiri has thanked government for embarking on the widening of the Great East Road.
He says that this will reduce on the number of road accidents as motorists will have enough space to share on the road.
The District Commissioner also says that street lights will be put on the Great East Road covering a distance of about 4 kilometres from the former airstrip to Nyimba Bridge.
