Five Malawian nationals have been arrested by the Immigration Department in Chipata for unlawful entry into the country.
Immigration Department Spokesperson Namati Nshinka confirmed to Breeze News today the arrest of the five Malawians.
And Mr. Nshinka says the immigration department has also arrested 52 suspected prohibited immigrants for various immigration offences in the country.
The 52 arrested include 38 Tanzanians, who are mostly involved in the business of hair plaiting without permits.
Others arrested are 4 Burundi nationals, 3 Congolese nationals, 3 Indian nationals, 2 Rwandese nationals and 1 Somali national.
He says the screening process is currently in progress as the identity of some of the illegal immigrants has not yet been established
