Most government projects in Sinda district have stalled due to lack of funding.
And some contractors working on government projects in Sinda district have faced challenges convincing their workers, who have not been paid salaries since last year.
Speaking to Breeze News, Sinda District Commissioner, Paradious Sakala says that the works have stalled because of austerity measures being applied by government.
Mr Sakala stated that it was not strange that the projects have stalled because President Edgar Lungu announced last year that due to austerity measures, some projects would be suspended.
Affected projects include those of constructing offices for the district commissioner and government departments like Ministry of Agriculture.
Mr Sakala however, says that activities on the projects are expected to resume this month as government has obtained a loan from Africa Development Bank to finance the works.
Meanwhile some workers of construction companies have dragged their managers to the Labour Office in a bid to get their salaries, which they have not been paid since last year in November.
