New teachers deployed to rural schools to strictly serve for two years before being allowed a transfer.

The Ministry of Education has made it mandatory for teachers deployed to rural areas to serve at their stations for at least two years.
This is in a bid to ensure that schools in rural areas do not have shortages of teachers.
Provincial Education Officer, Alan Lingambe confirmed the development to Breeze News.
Mr. Lingambe observed that most schools in the rural parts of the Province do not have adequate teachers, and that this time around most of the teachers recruited will be deployed to such areas.
He says that government is committed to providing a quality service to pupils from rural areas, which is why teachers are given rural hardship allowance as an incentive to keep them stationed at the rural schools.
Five thousand teachers are expected to be deployed country wide, to ease the pupil teacher ratio.
Mr. Lingambe described the exercise as timely, in light of the teacher deficit in the rural areas.
