New Zambian Kwacha notes which are visually impaired friendly will go into circulation next week.
Bank of Zambia Assistant Accountant for Communications and Settlement, Micky Phiri confirmed this during a live radio programme on Breeze FM last evening.
Mr. Phiri says that the new notes, which consist of 2, 5,10,20,50 and 100 Kwacha will operate alongside the old notes, which will eventually be phased out.
He however, indicated that the Bank of Zambia has not yet given a time frame under which to phase out the old notes.
And speaking during the same programme, Bank of Zambia Safety Officer, Luka Chiwowa disclosed that the new notes consist of features that are difficult to counterfeit.
Mr. Chiwowa explained that the features also make it easy for the visually impaired to identify the money with less or no difficulties.
He also indicated that Bank of Zambia has improved 2 and 5 Kwacha notes, because the old ones are easily wearing out because of high circulation.
